Samina is a writer/director based in NYC & LA. She is a graduate of New York University’s Stern-Tisch Dual Degree Program where she studied film and business. Her films explore themes of girlhood, outsiderdom, faith, and familial love.

Her debut feature film is in development and has been selected for the 2026 Sundance Screenwriters Intensive, the Film Independent Producing Lab and won best screenplay at Urbanworld in 2025.

She is a 2024/25 Sundance Ignite Fellow, a Sundance Building Bridges Fellow, and an Orchard Project Episodic Lab Fellow. Her first short film, AMERIGIRL, is streaming on NoBudge, Her second short, AYAT, starring Laith Nakli (Hulu’s RAMY, A24’s PROBLEMISTA), is currently in the festival circuit. Currently, she is in post-production for her documentary short, MANGO MAN.

She assisted in the writers’ room for Riz Ahmed’s BAIT, which comes out on Prime this Spring. She is also a member of the Brooklyn Filmmakers Collective.
